Nottingham’s coffee scene is buzzing, and no matter where you go, you’re bound to find a café that feels like home - or at least home with better coffee. So, next time you’re wandering around the city, skip the chain café and dive into one of these local gems.

Let the coffee crawl commence! ☕

200 Degrees Coffee

Let’s kick off with a Nottingham institution. 200 Degrees Coffee isn’t just a café - it’s an experience. From its house-roasted beans to its barista school vibes, this place will teach you a thing or two about your latte. Its creamy caramel cappuccino is a must, paired perfectly with its fresh pastries (oh hey, cinnamon swirl). Bonus: the warm, wood-panelled interiors make it feel like a hug in coffee shop form.

Yolk

If you like your coffee served with a side of brunch perfection, Yolk is where it's at. Tucked away in trendy Hockley, this café is all about bold flavours, incredible coffee, and yolk-dripping egg dishes (hence the name). Their espresso is smooth, the cappuccinos are dreamy, and their brunch menu will leave you drooling. The vibe? Bright, airy, and oh-so-chic.

The Specialty

Hugging the corner of Friar Lane and Maid Marian Way, The Specialty is a minimalist dream. Think Scandi-chic vibes, smooth flat whites, and avocado toast so Instagrammable you’ll need a second phone. Small but mighty, it’s perfect for a caffeine pitstop during a shopping spree.

Bear

Bear in Hockley is where great coffee meets laid-back style. With its modern interior, friendly atmosphere, and impeccable coffee game, it’s the perfect spot to unwind. Whether you’re grabbing a quick cappuccino or settling in for brunch, their menu delivers on every level.

Pro tip: Order one of Bear’s ‘On Toast’ dishes, such as the slow-cooked pulled beef with Greek yoghurt, pink onions, fresh chilli, mojo verde and a poached egg, and you’ll get a coffee for free! (Before 10am, Monday-Friday).
