The new units, located at the National Ice Arena (Bolero Square), Mercure Hotel (Carlton Street), Marks & Spencer (Low Pavement), and Binks Yard (Island Quarter), bring It’s in Nottingham’s total supply of life-saving defibrillators to ten, reinforcing Nottingham’s commitment to being a Heart Safe city.
These strategically positioned defibrillators are accessible for public use, offering swift, critical assistance in the event of sudden cardiac arrest and helping to safeguard Nottingham’s residents and visitors alike. The expanded defibrillator network enables timely emergency responses, especially in high-footfall areas.
Alex Flint, CEO of It’s in Nottingham, emphasised the importance of the initiative:
"We’re proud to expand Nottingham’s defibrillator network and increase our city’s ability to respond to cardiac emergencies. Adding more defibrillators to key locations ensures a safer environment for everyone who lives, works, studies and visits here. The community’s response to this project has been overwhelmingly positive, and we’re committed to continuing our efforts to help protect Nottingham.”
Nottingham’s defibrillator initiative not only supports public access to essential medical equipment but also raises awareness about the importance of timely intervention in emergencies. This expansion reflects the city’s dedication to public health, safety, and well-being.
Chris Butler, General Manager of Mercure Hotel commented:
“With friends and family working as paramedics across the UK, I understand firsthand how life-changing it can be to have a defibrillator readily accessible. Mercure Nottingham City Centre Hotel is incredibly proud to have been chosen as a host location for one of these essential devices. Situated in the vibrant Hockley area of Nottingham city centre, our unit will be accessible to hundreds of neighbouring businesses and thousands of people who frequent this area each week. While we all hope it will never need to be used, it’s reassuring to know that our hotel, along with surrounding businesses, is now in a stronger position to offer potentially life-saving support should the need arise."
